Arkansas is proud of the four homegrown Fortune 500 companies headquartered here: Dillard’s, Murphy Oil, Tyson Foods and Wal-Mart. These companies are among the more than 100 Fortune 500 parent firms with more than 310 facilities in Arkansas.
- Many Arkansas companies are making headlines:
Wal-Mart, which was named by Fortune as the world's largest corporation from 2002 to 2009, has also ranked as one of the nation's most admired companies. - Other Arkansas companies contending for the list of America's Most Admired Companies in 2009 were Alltel (bought by Verizon), Arkansas Best, Dillard's, Murphy Oil and Tyson Foods.
- J. B. Hunt Transport and Murphy Oil are on the 2009 Forbes Platinum List of 400 companies.
- J.B. Hunt is also the only transportation firm in the top ten of Computerworld’s top 100 information technology workplaces.
- Arkansas Children's Hospital and Chesapeake Energy are among Fortune's 2009 list of the 100 Best Companies to Work For.
