MEC Expands Heber Springs Facility, Adds 70 New Jobs

HEBER SPRINGS, Ark. (November 9, 2021) – Mayville Engineering Company Inc. (MEC), today announced that it is expanding its capacity in Heber Springs, Ark. (Cleburne County). As part of the expansion, MEC will continue to invest in leading edge equipment and process improvements and will add approximately 70 new jobs over a four-year period to support growth in business volumes and multiple new customer products. In addition, MEC Heber Springs will be adding new blue chip OEM customers to its already robust customer list.

MEC has operated its 190,000-square-foot facility in Heber Springs since acquiring the former Defiance Metal Products Company in 2018. Current employment at the facility is approximately 200.

Founded in 1945 in Mayville, Wis., MEC provides a broad range of prototyping and tooling, production fabrication, coating, assembly, and aftermarket services. The company has 20 facilities in seven states. This year, the company was named No. 1 on the FAB 40 list of the largest fabricators in North America for the 11^th year in a row.

“MEC is truly invested in the Heber Springs community and was named Outstanding Business of the Year in 2019. They partner with the local high school, Arkansas State University-Beebe, and other local manufacturers to help with job growth and to build the local economy. MEC team members collected more than 12,000 food items for the 501 Day Food Drive in May of this year,” said Ginger Harper, president and chief executive officer of the Heber Springs Chamber of Commerce. “These items were distributed to the schools and local pantries to help those in need. MEC also sponsored and organized a very successful trap shoot as part of the Chamber’s new 'Freedom Fest on the Lake' event this year. These are just a few ways that MEC shows its dedication to our community.”

Equipment investment for capacity expansion related to the new business growth is already underway.
