Ellis Fin Works & Machine Innovates to Limit Community Transmission

 May 01, 2020

Benton-based Ellis Fin Works & Machine is a family-owned and operated company that specializes in die and machine repair. The company responded to the COVID-19 pandemic with an innovative product that limits person to person transmission within the community.

The Safe Touch Key reduces point of contact in various transmission scenarios. The key can be used to avoid contact with things that you would normally touch while in public, from opening doors to pushing elevator buttons.

The key is antimicrobial because it is made from 260 brass alloy, which is 70% copper. Most human pathogens cannot survive in contact with copper surfaces. This antimicrobial quality means that most bacteria die within one or two hours of the key being used.

The company plans to donate Safe Touch Keys to workers on the front lines of the COVID-19 pandemic, including the Benton Police Department. Ellis Fin Works & Machine is offering the Safe Touch Key to the community at an affordable price of $12.50 per key.
